Retell AI alternative

An EU-hosted alternative to Retell AI, built with your team

Retell AI is a capable self-serve voice platform, based in the United States. VoiceDock runs its orchestration, dashboard, API and storage on EU infrastructure, contracts as a Dutch company, and builds your voice system alongside your team. Below: Retell's published pricing line by line, a comparison per buyer requirement, and the cases where Retell is the better choice.

Why teams start comparing

Four reasons a European team looks past Retell AI

None of these make Retell a weak product. They follow from where it runs and how it is sold.

01

The calls have to be processed in the EU

Retell's security documentation says it meets GDPR through its cloud provider's data processing addendum, and that it does not currently operate services within the European Union. Retell's own guide for enterprise buyers notes that US hosting does not pass procurement for public-sector contracts. Our orchestration, dashboard, API and storage run on EU infrastructure, and why that matters for voice is written up separately.

02

You want the contract in Europe

Retell is a US company that prices in US dollars. We are Flireo B.V., a Dutch company in Deventer that invoices in euros, with a standard data processing agreement under GDPR Article 28 at no additional cost. The documentation sits in our Trust Center.

03

You want someone to build it with you

Retell is built for self-serve: templates, simulation testing and a quick start. Dedicated implementation support is an add-on on its Enterprise plan, or you hire one of its certified partners. We build your voice system in working sessions with your team, and we are the engineers who maintain the orchestration layer underneath it. How that works for agencies is described on its own page.

04

You want to sell it under your own brand

Retell's partner programme is built around lead referrals, a directory listing, co-marketing and early access. If you want to put voice AI in front of your own customers under your own name, at your own price per customer, that is what our white-label setup is for. Telecom providers and software companies can start from our partner page.

The bill

What Retell AI costs, and what we charge

Retell publishes its prices in full, which makes the comparison straightforward. Its own calculator example comes to $0.11 per minute before telephony: $0.055 for voice infrastructure, $0.04 for the language model and $0.015 for the voice. Every line that can appear on the bill is below.

Our side of it

One fee, with the rest at cost

Our orchestration fee is € 0,07 per minute, for inbound, outbound and web calls alike. Model usage on our keys is passed through at cost; on your own keys your provider bills you and the fee stays the same. Telephony is billed per leg at the carrier's rate. On the platform fee alone Retell is lower. What decides the bill is the total per connected conversation, which depends on the models you run and how long your calls last. How to work that out per minute is written up in full.

Where we would not argue

When Retell AI is the better choice

A comparison that wins on every line is not worth reading. Four cases where Retell is the stronger fit.

You want to start alone, tonight

Retell gives you $10 in credit, templates and simulation testing without speaking to anyone. You can create an account with us too, but our delivery starts with a conversation, and a team that never wants one is better served by Retell.

You need a SOC 2 report or a HIPAA BAA from the vendor itself

Retell holds SOC 2 Type 1 and Type 2 and signs a business associate agreement for health data. If your procurement requires those from the vendor directly, that settles it. Our certifications sit with our infrastructure providers, as the Trust Center explains.

Your callers are in the US or Canada

Retell sells US and Canadian numbers from its dashboard, and offers branded caller ID and verified numbers in the US to help outbound calls get answered. For a North American outbound operation, that is a lot of ready-made work.

You want a large, ready-made toolbox

Knowledge bases, batch calling, SMS, AI quality assurance and a long list of ready-made integrations can be switched on, with a partner directory behind them. Retell's documentation even walks you through SIP debugging with packet captures.

Switching

How a move from Retell AI works

Moving is a short list of work, and we do it with you rather than hand you a guide.

  1. 01

    Take stock

We list what your Retell agents do: prompts, functions, webhooks, post-call extraction and the numbers they answer.
  2. 02

    Rebuild

Single-prompt agents become assistants, conversation flows are rebuilt with you as assistants, and functions become tool calls into your own systems. How tool calls into business systems behave on a live line is worth reading before this step.
  3. 03

    Point the telephony at us

If your numbers run over your own SIP trunk, the trunk is pointed at us instead. Transfers are tested against real destinations, because a transfer that fails is where callers get lost.
  4. 04

    Test, then go live

Test calls first, then real callers, while you keep your Retell setup until you are satisfied. What happens on our side when a server fails is on the reliability page.

Questions

What people ask when they compare Retell AI

How much does Retell AI cost?

Retell's pay-as-you-go price for voice agents is $0.07 to $0.31 per minute. That total is built from a $0.055 voice infrastructure fee, the language model and voice you choose, telephony, and add-ons such as a knowledge base or PII removal. A Retell phone number costs $2 a month, 20 concurrent calls are included and each extra one costs $8 a month. Enterprise pricing is custom. Figures from retellai.com/pricing, retrieved 29 September 2026.

What does VoiceDock cost per minute?

€ 0,07 per minute for orchestration, for inbound, outbound and web calls alike, plus model usage at cost on our keys or billed directly by your provider on your own keys. Telephony is billed per leg at the carrier's rate. There is no per-seat licence. The details are on our pricing page.

Is VoiceDock cheaper than Retell AI?

Not on the platform fee: Retell's voice infrastructure line is $0.055 per minute, against our € 0,07. The comparison that matters is the total per connected conversation, including models, voice, telephony and add-ons. Bring us your call volume and provider choice and we will work it out with you.

Does Retell AI process data in the EU?

Retell's security documentation says it complies with GDPR through its cloud provider's data processing addendum and does not currently operate services within the European Union. Its privacy policy states that personal data is primarily stored and processed in the United States. VoiceDock runs orchestration, dashboard, API and storage on EU infrastructure.

Do you sign a data processing agreement?

Yes. A standard DPA under GDPR Article 28 is ready to sign at no additional cost, whichever configuration you run. The Trust Center documents hosting and sub-processors; the DPA text and security documents are released on request.

Can I keep my own phone number?

Yes. You connect your own number over your SIP trunk, and we set that up with you. A managed number is available on request for testing and setup. If your numbers already run on your own trunk with Retell, moving mostly means pointing that trunk at us.

Can I move my Retell agents to VoiceDock?

Yes, by rebuilding them rather than importing them. Prompts, functions, webhooks and post-call extraction all have a counterpart on our side: assistants, tool calls, webhooks and post-call analysis against a schema you define. We do that work with you and test transfers and tool calls before real callers are routed.

Can I bring my own model keys?

Yes, self-serve, and the orchestration fee stays € 0,07 per minute. Your provider bills you directly, and you keep provider-level control over data handling.

Can I resell VoiceDock under my own brand?

Yes. A parent organisation can cover usage for its customer organisations, with pricing per organisation, so you set your own price to your own customers. The white-label and agency setups both run this way.

Retell AI or Vapi: what is the difference?

Both are self-serve platforms priced per minute in US dollars. Retell lists $0.055 per minute for voice infrastructure and bills model, voice and telephony usage on top at its own rates. Vapi lists $0.05 per minute for hosting and passes model usage through at cost. Figures from both pricing pages, retrieved 29 September 2026. We compare VoiceDock with Vapi on a separate page.

Bring us the Retell setup you want to move

Thirty minutes, no deck. We look at your agents, your numbers and where your callers are, and tell you plainly whether moving makes sense.
